Apps

Several Checks behind one address, with a menu down the side.

An app is a menu. Several Checks at one address, with a list down the side for the reader to choose from.

Use one when the same audience needs more than one Check — a regional manager who wants sales, stock and price all in one place, rather than three links in three emails.

#Assembling one

Drag a Check from the tree onto the app, or press Add check.

The check is linked, never copied — editing it anywhere changes it everywhere it appears.

That is the opposite of how the library works, and it is the useful behaviour here: fixing a Check fixes it on every app carrying it.

The order in the editor is the reader's menu. Drag to arrange, and into a folder to file. Each entry can carry a Menu name that overrides the Check's own — "What the reader sees. Blank uses the check's own name." The reader never learns there were two names.

You can create an app by dropping a Check onto the empty apps area.

#Publishing one

The same gates as a Check — an admin, a licence that has not lapsed, a tier that includes publishing — plus one more: an empty app cannot be published. Add at least one Check first.

#The app is the publication

This is the part worth understanding.

A Check reached through a published app does not need to be published itself. Its own /checks/<slug> stays governed by its own flag, which means you can expose a Check through an app only, and unpublishing the app closes every door at once.

That makes an app a genuine access boundary, not just a convenience.

#What the reader gets

At /apps/<slug>, the reader gets the menu and nothing else — names and ids only. Nothing about any Check is fetched until they open one, so a twelve-Check app does not cost twelve runs to open.

Once inside, each Check behaves as a published page: read, filter, re-run, export.

The menu can be searched, hidden and resized.

#Deleting one

Delete "Regional pack"? The checks on it are not affected — an app is a menu, and throwing away a menu is not throwing away the meals.

#Licensing

Apps are their own capability and their own limit, and are not included on every tier.
