Glossary

Every noun you will meet in Mosaic, in one place.

Aggregation — the object that does the comparing: keys, measures, inputs and Rules. A Check shows one aggregation's result. Also labelled Comparison in the Builder. See Aggregations.

App — several Checks behind one address, with a menu down the side. An app is a menu, not a copy: deleting one throws away the menu, not the meals.

Ask — the assistant. Asks questions about what a Check found. Needs AI switched on and a licence that includes it.

Baseline — the input every delta and verdict is measured against. The first source, unless you pick another.

Business Locations — the places the business operates, how they nest, and which system does each job for each of them. Store codes in a Check resolve against it.

Carried column — a column shown but neither joined on nor counted: a document date, an order number, a status.

Check — the thing that compares two or more systems and reports where they disagree. See Checks and Reports.

Collection — a named list. A list of machines can be attached to a data source and run across; a list of values connects to nothing and only supplies what a parameter sends.

Composer — describe what you want reconciled and have it designed. Needs AI and a model.

Computed column — a column derived from others: days between, minus, times, % difference from, joined with, and others.

Data source — one query against one connection. See Data sources.

Delta — the difference between a measure on one side and the baseline.

Environment — a named set of values and credentials, switched as a set. See Environments and variables.

Exception — a difference that survived a run, with a status, an owner and a history. See Exceptions.

Fast check — a Check built by pointing a model at some data sources and asking. One source becomes a report; several become a check.

Find — the command palette. One search that also does verbs.

Flat report — see Report.

Grouping key — what rows are matched on. See Aggregations.

Home — the workspace's front door: the greeting, the setup checklist, the tiles and recent activity.

Integration — an outside system that is not a data source: a model to ask about a Check, a mail server to send one, a drive to keep files in.

Investigation — a runbook filed against a Check. See Investigations.

Known — the mark a reader puts on a difference they understand. It stays a difference; it stops being new. Feeds the not yet known Rules.

Level — a rung of the org chart in Business Locations: Area, then Country, then Store.

Library — data sources, collections and variables kept outside any Check. Adding a source to a Check copies it; collections and variables stay linked.

Lineage — which source a row came through, in a multi-stage comparison.

Measure — a value compared side by side, with an optional tolerance.

Normalise — making two systems read the same way before they are compared. See Normalise.

Observability — system and security events recorded for the workspace.

Overview — every Check and its health at a glance. Its words are Agrees, Differs, Failed, Stale and No runs. Stale outranks everything: a Check that has not run recently is a worse problem than one that disagrees, because nobody is looking.

Parameter — a named value defined on a Check and referenced as {{name}}. See Parameters.

Property — anything else the estate keeps about a place: the opening date, the fascia, the tax region.

Report — the flat kind: one source, shown as it comes. Compares nothing, so it has no Rules. See Checks and Reports.

Rule — a threshold that decides whether a comparison passed. See Rules.

Run — one execution. Stores counts, not rows. See Runs and history.

Snapshot — the actual rows a run produced, kept for a shorter window than the run's counts.

Summary — a reading of what a run found: what the numbers show, what it might mean, suggested next steps. It always says who wrote it — Mosaic alone, or a named model.

System — a system the business runs, connected once so a new data source picks one instead of having its connection typed again. Not a connection and not a host: the thing itself.

Tenancy — the licence, the plan and the people, for the installation.

Tolerance — the difference still counted as a match.

Trigger — a schedule and what to do with the result: keep it, write a file, send an email, or call an endpoint. Its tabs are Schedule, Outputs, Workflow and Last run. Mosaic checks every half minute, and a schedule fires on the first check past its time.

Variable — a named value from an environment or the library. See Environments and variables.

Verdict — what a compared row came out as: Match, Different or Missing.

Workspace — a container for work that belongs together. See Workspaces and roles.
